REPROGRAMMING RHEINSTRASSE

The invited competition 'Vorplatz Kunsthalle Darmstadt' had set the task of redesigning the forecourt of the Kunsthalle Darmstadt alone. The museum is located on the busy Rheinstrasse - a relic of car-friendly urban planning. This main traffic artery dominates not only the forecourt, but the entire urban structure of Darmstadt in terms of construction, acoustics and atmosphere. Our contribution expands the area and addresses measures for reprogramming Rheinstrasse to become a stage for the new. The competition entry was awarded a special prize.
