MOVING MAPS
We designed a raincoat for the Ludwigshafen Art Association. On the back is an abstract map of Ludwigshafen and in the cover is a set of stickers.
Visitors on guided tours are invited to wear it. Using the stickers, participants can map out on another person's back which places they find interesting, inspiring, in need of improvement or even shocking.
The barrier-free functionality allows all participants to create their own personal, individual plan. It promotes exchange between visitors about places in the city. When the coat is worn on the next tour, the map can be updated with new visitors. This is how a collective, mobile map of Ludwighafen is created.
A limited number of the coats were auctioned off during the performance "WERTstadt – Performative Urbanität" (cityVALUES – performative urbanity) by Stella Flatten and Diana Lucas-Drogan.
