The theme of the exhibition, ‘Baptised, Outcast, Deported – Christians of Jewish Origin in the St. Thomas and Blessing Community during the Nazi Era’ is to be atmospherically and visually processed and staged with great sensitivity for the individual fates. The subject of the baptism of Jewish citizens, as well as the St. Thomas Church, as a place of events, should be given appropriate attention and space, but the individual fate, the biographical fragment, individual stories are in the foreground of this exhibition and should therefore also determine the structure and appearance. The historical context, the phenomenon of baptising Jewish people, the position of the church during the Nazi era, should not completely give way to individual reports of experiences in the exhibition, but the latter form the core of the exhibition, in material and concept.
The exhibition, curated by Christine Zahn, was shown from 2 to 29 November 2008 in the St. Thomas Church in Berlin-Kreuzberg and then in many other churches in Berlin.
