24H DESTRESS
The contribution STRESSTEST by Nicola Borgmann, Elisabeth Endres, Gabriele G. Kiefer, Daniele Santucci for the German Pavilion at the 19th Architecture Biennale in Venice makes the experience of heat stress in cities physically tangible. The pavilion is divided into two areas: STRESS shows the effects of heat stress on cities, while DESTRESS presents cooling planning strategies.
ANICOWORKING was commissioned to design an illustration for this purpose. We developed a 24-hour room presented as a 360° panorama, which illustrates both the heat development over the course of a typical summer day and the cooling effects of measures such as de-sealing, greening, or light-colored surfaces. The immersive diagram (Source:Lufttemperatursenkung mit Anpassungsmaßnahmen - Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung, Berlin, 2011) is complemented by illustrations that communicate planning measures in an accessible and engaging way—both for architectural experts and laypeople.
